Booking & arrival
How do I book?
Check live availability on this site, then book securely through our Airbnb listing, where payment, the cancellation policy, and host protections are all handled.
What are check-in and checkout times?
Check-in is after 4:00 PM and checkout is before 11:00 AM.
Is check-in self-service?
Yes. The cabin has a smart lock for easy self check-in — no need to coordinate a key handoff.
Where exactly is the cabin?
Rivendell sits on four private acres near Rollinsville, between Nederland and Black Hawk. The exact address is shared with you after booking.
How far is it from the airport and Denver?
About 1.5 hours from Denver International Airport and roughly an hour from downtown Denver. Eldora is ~15 minutes, Nederland ~10 minutes, and Boulder ~35 minutes.
Getting here & the drive
Do I need a special vehicle?
From October through the end of May, a 4WD or AWD vehicle is required due to snow and mountain driving conditions. Roads can be slick even after plowing.
Does it snow there?
Yes — at this elevation snow can fall from October through May. It makes for beautiful winters, but plan your vehicle and timing accordingly.
Where do I park?
All vehicles park in the driveway, never on the road, so county plows can keep the roads clear. The driveway is on a plow route and is cleared after significant snowfall.
Are the roads hard to drive?
Mountain roads are winding and narrow, and can be dark at night. Drive carefully and give yourself extra time arriving and leaving.
The cabin
How many people does it sleep?
Up to 6 guests across 3 bedrooms and 5 beds, with 2 full bathrooms. It's the entire ~1,500 sq ft cabin — you'll have the whole place and all four acres to yourselves.
Is there Wi-Fi and cell service?
There's reliable satellite Wi-Fi that's good for both work and streaming, plus dedicated desk space. Cell service is limited, but texting works and Wi-Fi calling is recommended.
Can I work remotely from the cabin?
Yes — there are multiple dedicated workspaces and satellite Wi-Fi, making it a comfortable spot for a remote-work getaway.
Is the kitchen fully equipped?
Yes — full cookware, a blender, single-serve and drip coffee makers, and a dining table for six. There's also a large grill outside for summer BBQs.
House rules
Are pets allowed?
The cabin is strictly pet-free to keep it clean, allergy-friendly, and comfortable for everyone. We're happy to recommend trusted local boarding options.
Can I host a party or event?
No — this is a quiet, no-party property. Please keep noise low, especially in the evenings, and follow Leave No Trace guidelines.
Can I use the firepit?
The propane firepit is perfect for s'mores and stargazing, and is available whenever Gilpin County fire-ban regulations allow. We'll let you know if a ban is in effect during your stay.
Wildlife & safety
Will I see wildlife?
Very likely — moose, foxes, and deer are often nearby. Enjoy them from a distance, never feed them, and stay alert when walking or driving, especially at dawn and dusk.
Is the property monitored?
There are exterior security cameras on the property for everyone's safety. There are no cameras inside the cabin.
